Dejphon Chansiri has held a press conference this morning as Sheffield Wednesday reflect on their points deduction getting halved, helping them reel in those sides above them in the Championship.

The Owls are now firmly in touch with the pack above them and they'll be looking to kick on now, especially after beating AFC Bournemouth last time out in the league.

Chansiri has been discussing that, then, as well as several other topics and he has certainly pulled no punches when it comes to discussing Fernando Forestieri.

The attacker is at Udinese after leaving Wednesday earlier this year but, evidently, Chansiri feels as though perhaps he should have sanctioned his exit before then.

Quoted by Yorkshire Live, he said:

"When people try to talk about Fernando in the past, I needed to choose whether to sell him or keep him.

"If I had sold him and we could have recovered FFP, it would be good. But if not, maybe it means more trouble.

"At that time, I tried to sell a couple of players to cover FFP. At the end, we could do just one but it didn’t cover so I made a decision to keep.

"At the time, I also thought he would be good.

"I should have sold him at the time. He did nothing.

"If you remember first year, people told me to not sell Fernando. There are many things I could say with hindsight."

The Verdict

'He did nothing' is a pretty frank way of putting things and it is clear that Chansiri wishes he had let the attacker go earlier than the time the player ended up leaving earlier this year.

Forestieri certainly had good quality moments but the Wednesday owner feels that perhaps we didn't see enough of that and the club should have cashed in when they could.

As he says, though, hindsight is a wonderful thing and there is simply no way you can predict things like this.
