Dejphon Chansiri says he 'needs time' to find the right person to be Sheffield Wednesday manager.

The Owls' owner is looking for a new face to lead the team after making the decision to sack Garry Monk on Monday evening.

The decision came after a poor start to the season which sees the South Yorkshire side sitting in 23rd position in the Championship after 11 fixtures.

In that time Wednesday have won three and drawn three games, but after being handed a 12-point deduction at the start of the season they still find themselves with work to do.

That left Chansiri with a big decision to make.

After Monk's departure a number of credible manager have been linked with the vacant post.

According to The Athletic they include Paul Cook, Tony Pulis, Danny Cowley and Nigel Pearson, while the likes of Sol Campbell and Ryan Lowe have also been linked.

But according to Chansiri no decision has yet been made and he has no intention of rushing the call.

Speaking on talkSPORT, as quoted by Yorkshire Live, Chansiri said: "I want to do the best thing for the club. It's an amazing club.

"We need time to think about it, (but) I think as soon as possible."

Asked if he had a specific manager in mind, he added: "Actually we've had many managers who have sent offers.

"So we need to look at it and we'll see who is the best because every manager has some experience and ability.

"But I can choose just one manager. I try to choose the best that I can at this moment."

The Verdict

Dejphon Chansiri is absolutely right to take his time with this appointment.

After sacking Garry Monk as manager, the focus for the club must be on finding the right person to take charge moving forward.

Sheffield Wednesday are in a precarious position at present and so the club need to find someone to achieve their immediate objectives.

That means that the aim is to find someone who can grind out results while overseeing a transitional period in the group of players currently in the first team squad.

Chansiri has over a week until the club's next fixture and I'm sure he'll be looking to use that time to find the right candidate.
