Many Ipswich Town fans have taken to Facebook to debate whether Freddie Sears should be handed a start in the club's clash with AFC Wimbledon tomorrow at the Cherry Red Records Stadium.

Despite initially making a barnstorming start to the 2019/20 campaign, the Tractor Boys have struggled for consistency in recent months.

After suffering defeats to Rotherham United and Peterborough United in League One, Ipswich would have been wanting to issue a response to this downturn in form by securing a positive result against Sunderland last Saturday.

However, Tractor Boys manager Paul Lambert was unable to prevent the Black Cats from sealing all three points at the Stadium of Light via a late strike from Chris Maguire.

When you consider that Ipswich have only scored two goals in their last four games, it could be argued that they could find it beneficial to turn to Sears for inspiration.

Since returning to action during the club's clash with Gillingham in December following a serious knee injury, the forward has only been used on a sporadic basis by Lambert who has instead opted to select the likes of Kayden Jackson, James Norwood and Will Keane.

Yet given that Sears has scored 31 goals at League One level during his career, it may be worth taking a punt on him on Tuesday.

After a member of the Ipswich Fans Facebook Forum asked whether the 30-year-old should be handed a start against Wimbledon, many Tractor Boys supporters offered their thoughts on the matter on the social media platform.

Here are some of the best responses from the club's fans...

Robert Bootyman: "Definitely."

Steve Green: "Why not?

"He would need someone like Jackson alongside him."

John Hibbert: "Yes."

Peter Crane: "No."

Nick Tanner: "No, he has looked way off the pace."

Hazel Allen: "Yes, he can't make things any worse.

"Good player."

Glenn Turner: "Couldn't do any worse than Norwood or Jackson, come to think of it nor would I."

Nick Wood: "The way we are playing at the moment, you could play the whole squad up front and we wouldn't score!

"Freddie isn't the answer, he's too much off the pace after months out."

Don Welsh: "Yes, why not?"

Conny Bengtsson: "Has looked a bit too rusty for a starting place.

"Give him 20 minutes as a sub when the Dons' back-line gets tired."
