Leeds United will be working hard to ensure that they are fully prepared for another promotion challenge next season.

And it looks like young defender Aapo Halme will be allowed to leave on loan this summer, according to Football Insider, in order to gain some first-team experience - something he is unlikely to get at Elland Road.

Halme signed for Leeds in January 2018, signing a four-year deal from HJK Helsinki although he has gone on to make just four league appearances since then.

However, he was a regular in Carlos Corberan's under-23 side that won their development league and also made it to the final of the play-offs.

There are not any known offers on the table for the Finnish under-21 star although it is thought that Leeds are keen to keep him in England.

So, is this the right move from the club?

We discuss...

Jacob Potter

"It's the best move for both parties.

"Halme didn't feature enough last season for Leeds and he needs regular game time to develop in senior football.

"If he can impress out on loan, then I think he'll be challenging for a spot in Marcelo Bielsa's side for future seasons.

"A smart move."

Toby Wilding

"This is probably the right decision.

"Leeds need to make space in their squad for new additions in the summer transfer window, and having struggled for opportunities at Elland Road, Halme is an obvious candidate to be moved on.

"The defender is not the only one there has been this sort of report about, so it certainly seems that there will be a number of bit part players being shown the door in the summer."

Kealan Hughes

"It would be strange to sell him as he has never been given a proper chance to impress.

"Leeds' transfer policy seems to be based on selling off their fringe players and therefore selling Halme would suit this goal, but it is unlikely that Leeds are paying him too much so he could be a player worth keeping.

"He is only 21 and has room for a lot of potential, but Bielsa may feel that he needs players who he can gurantee to put in match winning performances, and therefore it is probably right to move Halme on."

Tommy Joyce

"With Halme only featuring four times last season, letting him go on loan might be the right call.

"At 22, he's at an age where he really needs to be playing regularly, and it's only going to benefit himself and the club by getting game time.

"Leeds won't be letting him go without the necessary cover, so letting Halme get some more experience is definitely the right call."
