Charlton Athletic manager Lee Bowyer is set to send midfielder Albie Morgan out on loan again, after he was recalled from Ebbsfleet due to an injury crisis at the Valley, but following deadline day additions the crisis has been averted, allowing the 20-year-old to go out again, according to a report by London News Online.

“Albie needs to go and play some games,” said Addicks manager Lee Bowyer. “He needs to get his fitness up and learn the game," adding: “It is better than U23 football."

So are the Addicks right to send Morgan back out on loan again?

"I think it's definitely the right call to let Albie Morgan leave Charlton on loan again, as he needs to be playing regularly at this stage of his career.

"I was surprised to see him drop down as far as the National League, personally, as he was really impressive in League One last year I thought and he showed real glimpses of quality.

"Perhaps a loan move to League Two in January would have done him wonders, as it's unlikely that he will get into the team ahead of the current group of midfielders at the club right now.

"Matt Smith and David Davis have added competition to the midfield, and it would be risky relying on a 19-year-old to help get you out and away from a relegation battle this term."

“This is a strange decision by Bowyer as Morgan has impressed since returning to the club following his loan spell at Ebbsfleet United earlier this season.

“In the 12 appearances that he has made for the Addicks, the midfielder has provided two direct goal contributions in the Championship.

“Whilst it is fair to say that Morgan is far from being the finished article, it could be argued that he may benefit more from playing at Championship level (albeit sporadically) rather than in the National League.

“However, there is no reason why another temporary move away from the club cannot result in a great deal of success for the 20-year-old who will be determined to prove his worth to Bowyer from afar.”

Chris Thorpe

"I would say that this is a good decision by Lee Bowyer as it gives Morgan the game time he needs to develop his overall game to the next level.

"His involvement with the first team came due to injuries being picked up by his peers, so therefore a loan spell away from the Valley would surely prove beneficial now that those players are nearing a return to full fitness.

"Charlton will be hopeful of loaning their talented youngster to another EFL club lower down the pyramid as this would offer him a better environment to develop in that say the National League.

"There is sure to be a long line of lower league clubs who will be lining up a move for the central midfielder that has a very big future in the game ahead of him if the early signs are to be believed."
