Many West Bromwich Albion fans have taken to Facebook to discuss whether Ahmed Hegazi should keep his place in the club's starting eleven tomorrow against Wigan Athletic ahead of fellow defender Kyle Bartley.

After being forced to watch on from the sidelines in recent months due to the form illustrated by Bartley and Semi Ajayi, the Egypt international was handed the opportunity to prove himself in the Baggies' showdown with Bristol City last weekend.

Although he initially made a slow start to proceedings, Hegazi went on to help West Brom keep a clean-sheet at Ashton Gate by producing an assured display.

The 29-year-old then backed up this performance by delivering the goods once again during the Baggies' 2-0 victory over Preston North End on Tuesday.

With West Brom set to face Wigan at the Hawthorns on Saturday, it will be intriguing to see whether Hegazi is selected to feature alongside Ajayi in the heart of defence.

By sealing all three points in this fixture, the Baggies could extend their lead at the top of Championship standings to seven points depending on the outcome of Leeds United's clash with Hull City.
