‘Definitely better than Alfie Mawson’ – Fulham fan pundit lavishes praise on club target

Football League World’s Fulham fan pundit Charles Jones has offered his thoughts on the club’s reported interest in securing the services of Burnley centre back Ben Gibson on loan this month, with the Premier League club said to be open to the move.

Gibson has found himself largely out of favour since arriving at Turf Moor, with the former Middlesbrough man having experienced his fair share of injury issues in addition to falling behind the impressive pairing of James Tarkowski and Ben Mee in the pecking order.

A loan move now seems like the next best option for the defender who is sure to be keen to want to get some much needed regular game time under his belt in the coming months.

Which club does David Stockdale play for?

We caught up with Jones earlier this week to discuss his club’s interest in securing the services of the experienced 27-year-old and here is what our fan pundit had to say on the matter:

“I think he’d be a decent addition to our backline considering how much they’ve struggled this season.

“I’d say he’s definitely better than Alfie Mawson, but I’m not sure if he’d get in ahead of Michael Hector or Tim Ream.

“Personally, I’d like to see him play with Hector, he was unbelievable against Middlesbrough last Friday, and I think he has to be our first choice at centre back for now.

“Plus it also hard to look past Ream, the American has been steady for years, and on his day he’s one of the best defenders in the league.”

It would be interesting to see how Gibson would fit in at Craven Cottage if he was to make the move to west London, particularly with the Whites having strengthened that area of the field with the recent addition of Terence Kongolo on loan from Championship rivals Huddersfield.
