Brentford defender Yoann Barbet is being touted for a move to Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers when his contract expires, according to L'Equipe via HITC.

The Frenchman's deal runs out in the summer and a number of sides are thought to have joined Wolves in the race for his services, including Norwich City and Leeds United.

Wolves have boasted a solid defence this term and have conceded just 43 Premier League goals, which is fewer than Arsenal and Manchester United.

Nuno Espirito Santo is renowned for rotating his side infrequently, but he may need reinforcements if Wolves are to negotiate another successful season in the top-flight.

Barbet has registered 32 appearances for Brentford this season, with the Griffin Park outfit securing a mid-table finish in the Championship.

The defender joined the Bees in 2015 and has been a consistent performer ever since. He also has a high degree of versatility and can play at both centre-back and left-back.

So would this represent a good signing for Nuno's side? We discuss...

Louie Chandler

"Definitely a good option.

"Wolves' defence has been excellent this season but Barbet would definitely fit into Nuno's system very well.

"He is excellent at the basics but also very good with the ball at his feet which is what the West Midlands side expect from their defenders."

Gary Hutchinson

“Wolves might be a good destination for the tricky defender.

“I worry for a player making a move to a Premier League club, especially one like Wolves with similar players.

“I think he can hold his own in the top flight, but whether it best serves his purpose is another thing entirely.”

Toby Wilding

"It has been noted that Wolves have used fewer players than other Premier League clubs this season with just 19.

"To do that for one season is tough, so to do it for a second must be nigh on unthinkable, so Wolves will need to bring in other options.

"He may not be first choice at Molineux, but Barbet would present a reliable alternative when Nuno Espirito Santo needs to rotate his side."
