West Brom kick off their latest Championship campaign this weekend as they face an away trip to Middlesbrough.

The Baggies had a disappointing first season back in the second division under both Valerien Ismael and Steve Bruce.

But optimism is growing that the 61-year old is building a side capable of competing for promotion over the next 12 months.

Key transfer additions such as Jed Wallace and John Swift could have a transformative impact on the team’s fortunes.

All of the squad’s pre-season preparations have led to this upcoming fixture at the Riverside.

Before then, take a look at all the latest West Brom news headlines you may have missed…

The Albion boss has claimed that he is pleased with his options at centre back for the season ahead.

The club currently has Semi Ajayi, Dara O’Shea and Kyle Bartley as their only fit central defenders.

But Bruce believes no new additions are needed for the rest of this transfer window.

Kean Bryan is also a member of the first team squad, but is someway short of full fitness as he recovers from rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament late last year.

Jake Livermore and Okay Yokuslu have also been highlighted as players who could step into the role in defence if needed.

Callum Robinson update

Preston North End and West Brom are still someway short on their valuations of the Albion forward.

Robinson is a transfer target for the Lilywhites as the forward seeks a move away from the Hawthorns this summer.
