West Brom have completed the signing of Saul Shotton, with the defender joining the club on an initial two-year contract.

The 18-year-old was available on a free transfer after leaving Bury in the summer and Albion announced his arrival on their official site this morning, confirming they have an option to extend the deal by another year.

Despite his age, Shotton has made six first-team appearances in the EFL for the Shakers and is highly-rated.

However, the teenager will join up with the U23 side at The Hawthorns to start with and he will hope to force his way into Slaven Bilic's plans in the years to come.

Even though many fans hadn't really heard of Shotton, who is the cousin of Middlesbrough defender Ryan, there is the general feeling that on a free it could be a smart bit of business.
