Josh Ginnelly has signed a loan deal with League One side Bristol Rovers from Preston North End until the end of the season.

Rovers manager Ben Garner has begun to put his own stamp on the squad at The Memorial Stadium since taking over as manager last month, and has made Ginnelly the third addition this month following the signings of Jayden Mitchell-Lawson and Josh Barrett.

Ginnelly started his career within the academy of Aston Villa, before moving on to Shrewsbury Town in 2013. After just a year within their youth setup, he broke into the first-team and made three appearances.

He moved to Burnley in 2015, where he had loan spells with Altrincham, Walsall, Lincoln City and Tranmere Rovers across three seasons, making a combined total of 83 appearances and scoring 10 goals.

He then joined Walsall on a permanent basis following his release by Burnley in 2018, where he made no appearances for their senior squad, and he went on to make 22 appearances and score four goals.

In January 2019, Ginnelly sealed a move to Preston North End and has made nine appearances across the past year for the Championship side.
