Charlton Athletic manager Dean Holden says he is unconcerned by rumours that winger Jesurun Rak-Sakyi could be recalled from his loan spell with the club.

Rak-Sakyi joined the Addicks on loan back in the summer transfer window, and has since made a positive impact at The Valley.

The 20-year-old scored his seventh goal of the season as Charlton continued their resurgence under Holden with a 2-0 win over Barnsley on Saturday, that lifts them to 12th in the League One table.

It was reported last month, that Rak-Sakyi could be recalled from his loan by Palace, and loaned out elsewhere for the second half of the season.

Championship sides Hull and Millwall, as well as League One promotion hopefuls Sheffield Wednesday and Ipswich, were among those credited with an interest in the youngster.

Now though, it seems speculation of a move to another club for the winger, is not something that is playing on the mind of his manager.

Speaking about the possibility of Rak-Sakyi leaving Charlton this month after that win over Barnsley, Holden told The South London Press“It’s not difficult, with the rumours – if I hear them, which I do sometimes. My son keeps an eye on some of the stuff on Twitter. I don’t care. It’s rumours.

“Jes Rak-Sakyi is very happy here – you can see that in his performance today. He’s such a good, young player. Crystal Palace are happy with the way we’re using him. There are ongoing conversations with the guys there, Dougie Freedman and Mark Bright.

“From their point of view it is important their player comes out and plays games. Maybe not every minute of every single game, how does he learn if he comes out of the team? It’s all about us developing him to go back to Crystal Palace.

“For us he is helping us in the short term. He barely says a word, to be fair, but when he’s on the pitch he is a helluva player. I’m really impressed with him, really pleased.”

The Verdict

This does feel like it should be something of a relief for those of a Charlton persuasion.

Rak-Sakyi has been a key figure for the Addicks this season, and it would be a major blow for them to lose his influence going forward in attack.

However, judging by Holden's comments here about how happy Palace are with time at The Valley, it appears unlikely that he will be on the move this month.

That would be a major boost for Charlton if it were to be the case, and one that would ensure they remain well equipped to continue climbing the table under Holden.
