Stoke City are expected to have a very busy summer and they today made a key signing with midfielder Oghenekaro Peter Etebo joining the club from Portuguese side Feirense.

The Nigerian international, who is heading to the World Cup, will cost the Potters €7.2million and chief executive Tony Scholes claimed he turned down approaches from Premier League and Bundesliga clubs to join the Staffordshire side.

Etebo was on loan to La Liga side Las Palmas for the second half of last season and whilst he couldn't prevent the team from relegation, he shone with his energetic, all-action game.

As mentioned, he will be heading to the World Cup in Russia where fans will hope to get a first glimpse of their new signing. The 22-year-old has 14 caps to his name and came on as a substitute against England at Wembley in a friendly last week.

Despite that, he is still relatively unknown to Potters fans and so there was a mixed reaction to his arrival from fans of various clubs, although those who had seen him play claimed he was a fine signing for the Championship side...
