West Ham United are set to sign Ipswich Town’s 15-year-old striker Sam Ford, according to TEAMtalk.
The player has enjoyed a stellar campaign thus far for the Suffolk club’s under-18 side, and looks set to be rewarded with a switch to Upton Park following a successful trial.
Ford has netted 20 times in 56 appearances for Town’s youth side, and has also showed his ability at under-21 level – averaging a goal every four games.
West Ham’s youth development system is regarded as among the best in the world and has produced world-class players in the past, including Chelsea legends Frank Lampard and John Terry and England internationals Joe Cole and Rio Ferdinand.
And it seems as if the Hammers believe that Ford has what it takes to make it at a professional level following his superb goalscoring form for Ipswich.
The London club are flying high in the Premier League this season, sitting in 7th position and just a point off the European places, meanwhile, Ipswich Town currently occupy tenth spot in the Sky Bet Championship.
