Lafferty has long been courted by Leeds manager Steve Evans, but it now looks as though Carlos Carvalhal has beat him to the punch and landed the Northern Ireland striker on a deal until the end of the season.
The forward, who has spent time with Italian outfit Palermo, has struggled for game time with Norwich City this season, making only three appearances so far for the Canaries.
He cost the club over £3 million when he joined almost two years ago, but has failed to find any sort of form at Carrow Road.
Although Leeds have shown a huge interest, it is believed Lafferty is convinced Sheffield Wednesday can win promotion, with rumours of a permanent move for him to S6 should he help fire them to promotion.
It would mark the second striker the Owls have pinched from East Anglia this season, following the capture of Gary Hooper earlier in the season for £3 million.
Laffery has 45 caps for his country, and will be hoping to get some playing time under his belt in order to secure a place in the squad for the upcoming European Championships in France.
