AC Omonia Nicosia as the club’s official twitter account (@AC Omonia) has confirmed that they have made an agreement in principle to sign 30-year-old forward Matt Derbyshire.
The club’s twitter said: “Καταρχήν συμφωνία με τον 30χρονο Άγγλο επιθετικό, Ματ Νταρμπισάιαρ”, which translates to “Agreement made in principle with the British 30-year-old attacker, Matt Derbyshire”.
Derbyshire has been very good for the Millers since Steve Evans signed him before the Millers’ first season back in the Sky Bet Championship two years ago.
Some fans will be disappointed with Derbyshire’s decision, but moving abroad is nothing new to the former Forest striker as he once played for Greek side Olympiakos.
AC Omonia Nicosia recently appointed former Newcastle United manager John Carver, who appears keen to sign Derbyshire for his new team.
Matt Derbyshire has played 69 times for the Millers which means it is the team he has made the most appearances for in a good career. He netted 17 times for Rotherham United.
