Sky Bet Championship side Reading look set to beat a host of Championship sides to the signing of Watford striker Matej Vydra on a season-long loan deal, according to Sky Sports.
The Watford forward has had an odd summer, arriving on loan at the Hornets for his second spell at the club last season, before arriving permanently from Udinese this summer, but has now been made available for loan.
This has ignited interest from a number of Championship sides, seeing as the 23-year-old has scored 36 Championship goals in 83 appearances.
Nottingham Forest, Sheffield Wednesday, Brighton and Hull City were all chasing him, but now it appears Reading have captured him on a loan deal.
Vydra would link up with former manager Steve Clarke who signed him on loan from Udinese in 2013 at West Brom, where he only managed three Premier League goals in 23 after winning Championship player of the season the year before.
This could turn out to be a shrewd signing for the Royals who have been after some strikers for the entire window, and will help add an element of potency that could propel the team up the division.
Reading fans… What do you make of this news? Is Vydra the signing you wanted? Does he complete your striking unit? Do you need more forwards? Let us know in the comments below!
