According to EDP via Vital Football, Norwich are closing in on the signing of 21-year-old striker Zach Clough from Bolton Wanderers after a fee of £1.5 million was agreed.
The youngster would be the Canaries’ first signing of the transfer window as they prepare for life back in the Sky Bet Championship.
As for Bolton Wanderers their fans will not be surprised that they have lost their biggest star considering they have dropped into League One, but they will hope that new boss Phil Parkinson finds an adequate replacement.
Norwich are in desperate need of striker with their lack of goals a big factor in their relegation from the Premier League during last season.
Top scorer Dieumerci Mbokani has returned to his parent club Dynamo Kiev, and they sold Gary Hooper to Sheffield Wednesday but they will hope Cameron Jerome and Kyle Lafferty will score goals at this level as they have before. They also need some new signings after signing young winger Nathan Redmond was sold to Premier League outfit Southampton last week.
Clough proved last season that he can score at this level after netting seven goals for the Trotters, who were relegated from the Championship following a season of turmoil off the pitch.
The Manchester-born youngster is one of the most sought after talents in the Football League and will be a real statement of intent from Norwich City.
