Newcastle set to complete January move for Championship star

Brentford attacker Alan Judge will complete a move to fellow Championship side Newcastle United when the January transfer window opens, according to The Sun.

The 27-year-old was one of the star men in the second tier last season before it was cruelly ended when he broke his leg in a game against Ipswich Town in April.

The injury not only meant that the Bees had to finish the campaign without the influential midfielder, but the Republic of Ireland international also missed the European Championships this summer.

Judge was reportedly close to a move to Tyneside this summer but the Toon Army pulled out of the deal because the playmaker wasn’t as advanced in his rehabilitation as they initially thought.

However, the club look set to new revisit the deal to tie the highly-rated playmaker to the club in January as they continue to build a promotion winning squad.

Judge’s contract at Griffin Park expires in the summer so Rafa Benitez looks set to wrap up the deal for fee reported to be around £10m.

As well as Newcastle and Brentford benefiting from the deal, The Sun report that struggling Blackburn could be handed £2m as part of a sell on clause inserted into the deal to take him to West London.
