League Two side Leyton Orient look set to add to their attacking arsenal with the signing of Millwall striker John Marquis, according to the South London Press.
The striker is yet to start a league game for the Lions this season and it doesn’t appear he is part of boss Neil Harris’ plans for their first season back in League One.
The 23-year-old is keen to play regular first-team football and appears to have now been given permission to leave the New Den on loan with Orient the likely suitors.
It is a bizarre situation that the player finds himself in as boss Harris pulled out all the stops in the summer to tie the player down to a one-year deal, despite strong interest from Gillingham boss Justin Edinburgh.
He spent time with Edinburgh’s side last season and plunged eight goals in 18 appearances and the boss was keen to sign Marquis permanently, but opted to sign the extension at the Den.
Orient have started life back in League Two fairly well and currently sit third in the division. The signing of a player with the talent of Marquis really would send out a strong message to the rest of League Two that the club means business.
Orient fans… You must be excited at the thought of Marquis arriving at your club? Would you win the league with the signing of such a player? Where do you think the club will finish this season? Let us know your thoughts and opinions in the comments below!
