Sky Bet League One club Gillingham are set to bolster their defensive options with the signing of Charlton Athletic defender Harry Lennon on loan.
According to HITC Sport, the central defender will sign for the Gills on an emergency loan deal and could go straight into Justin Edinburgh’s team for tomorrow’s game at home to Oldham.
Lennon is highly-rated by academy coaches at the Valley and he actually made his first-team debut during last season’s FA Cup in a game against Huddersfield Town.
He has made two additional first-team appearances since then and looks set for a bright future with the Championship outfit.
It will be interesting to see whether boss Edinburgh can guide the Gills into the play-offs this season. If he does it will be a massive shock considering their budget is one of the smallest in the league.
You have to admire the ex-Spurs left-back though for continuing to search for young, hungry footballers who are keen to play games, rather than experienced pros just looking for another large payday.
Gillingham currently sit in third place in the Sky Bet Championship, having amassed 20 points from ten league games so far this season, and the Kent outfit have only lost two matches all season.
