Ipwsich Town are set to complete the signing of Arsenal youngster Ainsley Maitland-Niles, according to BBC Sport.
The 17-year-old winger will join Mick McCarthy’s side on a season-long loan from the Gunners, as they look to give him a taste for first-team football.
The youngster is rated highly by the academy staff at Arsenal and boss Arsene Wenger is also keen to see how the player develops when given the chance to play regular football, in a league as competitive as the Championship.
Maitland-Niles has been with the Gunners since the age of six and does actually boast two substitute appearances for the Arsenal first-team.
Back in December he came on at half-time as the Gunners beat Galatasary in the Champions League and four days later he made his Premier League debut as a second half substitute for Jack Wilshere in a comfortable win over Newcastle United.
The signing will offer a boost for Mick McCarthy who has recently lost winger Paul Anderson to Birmingham City.
