Championship side Derby County are close to agreeing a fee for Burnley centre back Jason Shackell, and are currently in advanced talks to try and seal a deal, according to the Derby Telegraph.
The 31-year-old would be returning to Derby after leaving the club in 2012 for Burnley for a fee of around £1.1 million, which would see Burnley make an impressive profit on his signature.
Shackell is a talented, experienced centre back and Derby would do well to capture him once more, as he’d really add to a defence that struggled towards the end of last term.
The Rams will be looking to achieve at least a top six finish, and have already secured a number of impressive signings this summer, including the likes of Darren Bent and Andreas Weimann.
Shackell would most likely partner former Reading centre-back Alex Pearce in the heart of defence, but will also face competition from Richard Keogh.
