Charlton Athletic are set to complete a deal for Wigan Athletic defender Jason Pearce, according to HITC.
The 28-year-old helped the Latics achieve promotion from League One last season but Charlton, who are under new management in Russell Slade, look set to add him to their defensive ranks.
The Addicks were relegated from the Sky Bet Championship last season and Slade has now gone about rebuilding his squad after replacing Jose Riga, who resigned at the end of last season.
18 players have departed since the end of the season – including players who’s loan deals have ended – including some stars such as Nick Pope and Johann Berg Gundmundsson.
Meanwhile the club have brought in six new signings and Pearce looks set to become signing number seven of the season.
The 6ft 1in defender has plenty of experience in the Championship and League One and he was a regular at Bournemouth, Portsmouth, Leeds and Wigan.
Charlton and Wigan fans, what do you make of the news? Would Pearce be a good signing for the Addicks? Are you shocked that Wigan are letting him leave? Let us know in the comments below!
