Deal Close: Cardiff City on verge of landing ex-Premier League striker

Cardiff City are set to land Marouane Chamakh on a free transfer, according to Teamtalk.

Neil Warnock is wasting no time in strengthening his squad and has reportedly also signed Junior Hoilett on a free.

Warnock worked with Marouane Chamakh during his time at Crystal Palace and is an admirer of the striker.

After impressing at Bordeaux, Chamakh earned himself a move to the Premier League by joining Arsenal in 2010.

His time with the Gunners was not very successful as the Morocco international managed 8 goals in 40 league outings for the Premier League giants.

He also had a forgettable loan spell at West Ham, playing just 3 times for the Hammers.

In 2013, he joined Crystal Palace where he had more regular game time. However he was used more as a bit part player last season and was released this summer.

After a trial at West Brom and being linked with Norwich, the 32-year-old looks set to reunite with Warnock for the Bluebirds as they desperately try to climb the table.

The report also claims that Cardiff are close to signing fellow free agent Sol Bamba.

Cardiff fans – what do you think? Is Chamakh a good signing? Can his experience be useful for you or are you not expecting much given his modest goal record?
