Premier League new boys Burnley are about to complete a double swoop for Charlton Athletic duo Nick Pope and Johann Berg Gudmundsson, according to Sky Sports.

It has been reported that they are both set for medicals with the club in the next 24 hours, and that deals are expected to be completed shortly.

Burnley stormed to the Championship title last season and manager Sean Dyche is looking to bolster his squad to fight for survival in the forthcoming season.

Burnley are yet to complete a signing and with time running out until the new season kicks off, Sean Dyche and his staff have been working extra hard behind the scenes to complete these deals.

Euro 2016 star Johann Berg Gudmundsson was a star player in Iceland's magnificent run to the quarter finals, proving that he has what it takes to play at the highest level.

Gudmundsson is a player with plenty of international experience having made 52 appearances for Iceland, scoring 5 goals.

He signed for Charlton Athletic in 2014 and since then has played over 80 games in the second tier of English football for the Addicks, scoring 16 goals.

Gudmundsson can play on either flank, and is a direct pacey winger who always poses a goal threat, at just 25 he has plenty of time on his side and can be seen as someone who can improve in the future.

Burnley are also close to securing the services of Charlton Athletic keeper Nick Pope, who they are looking at as a backup option for England International Tom Heaton.

The 24-year-old who has made 121 senior appearances many of which have come on various loan spells at clubs such as Cambridge United, York City and Bury, is seen as a hot prospect and is highly thought of at The Valley and it is clear that the club would like to hang on to him if they can, although it is looking increasingly likely that they will fail in their attempts to keep hold of the young goalkeeper.
