Bristol Rovers will sign Wigan goalkeeper Lee Nicholls on loan today, after the player has fallen down the pecking order at the DW Stadium, according to the Bristol Post.
The 22-year old came through the Wigan youth system and has been a part of the senior squad since 2010, but has only played nine games for the League One side, but has enjoyed loan spells in recent seasons at Accrington Stanley and Northampton Town, who he helped reach the play-off final last campaign.
Nicholls, who has played in the Europa League for Wigan after their FA Cup success a couple of years ago is currently behind veteran keeper Jussi Jaaskelainen, and Richard O’Donnell and has been loan listed.
Bristol already have four goalkeepers in their squad including Aaron Chapman who is on loan from Chesterfield along with current number one Steve Mildenhall, Will Puddy and youth prospect Kieran Preston.
The 6ft 3 shotstopper has previously played for England Under-19’s and will hope that his time at Rovers will increase his chances of playing for Wigan upon his return.
