The 25-year-old is available on a free transfer after leaving Wigan Athletic earlier this summer after turning down the chance to stay at the DW Stadium following their relegation from the Championship.

It is now understood that Bo-Kyung has agreed personal terms with Rovers and continues to train with the rest of the squad.

The FA brought in new rules earlier this year in order to reduce the number of non-EU players in England and the Lancashire club should know by the end of the week if the former Cardiff City man will be given a work permit.

Blackburn are struggling financially and are currently under a transfer embargo which is limiting boss Gary Bowyer to make loan signings and sign free agents.

Former Reading midfielder Danny Guthrie is the latest player to join the club on trial as former Aston Villa striker Nathan Delfouneso has been handed an extended trial after scoring one and setting up the other in a friendly against Oldham Athletic at the weekend.

Bowyer has lost Tom Cairney to Fulham this summer and Josh King to Bournemouth, which has seen a tribunal award Rovers an initial £1.5million, and his strike force of Jordan Rhodes and Rudy Gestede continue to be heavily linked with a move away from Ewood Park.
