Sky Bet Championship side Blackburn Rovers are closing in on the signing of Bengali-Fode Koita from Caen, according to HITC
Fode Koita is said to be close to joining Blackburn Rovers on a free transfer following his departure from Caen earlier in the summer.
The former France under-21 international, who scored 9 goals from 64 appearances across two years at Caen, is set to become Blackburn’s first signing of the summer. With the club only able to sign free agents or get players on loan due to a transfer embargo, the arrival of Fode Koita could be big news for Gary Bowyer’s side.
Koita started his career at Montpellier but was unable to establish himself as a first team regular. Following a fairly successful spell at Caen, he’ll be hoping to establish himself as a fan favourite at Ewood Park.
With the departure of Josh King to Bournemouth and the uncertainty surrounding Jordan Rhodes future at the club, Gary Bower is looking to add more fire power to his said as they look to make a promotion charge this year.
Last year was a somewhat mixed season for Rovers, with the club never really looking like they would mount a serious push for the top six in the Championship.
If the club add Fode Koita and manage to keep hold of Jordan Rhodes and Rudy Gestede, the side could have one of the most formidable strike forces in the second tier.
