Hull City are edging closer to sealing a loan deal for Arsenal prospect Isaac Hayden, the Guardian have confirmed.
The 20-year-old, who can operate as a central defender or defensive midfielder, is regarded highly at the Emirates, where he made two senior appearances in the League Cup. He was also an unused substitute in the second leg of the last 16 Champions League tie against Bayern Munich earlier this year.
Superiority in duels, capacity of concentration and technical skills are all attributes that Hayden obtains, and is something that will suit the demands of the Sky Bet Championship.
Hayden joined the Gunners from Southend in 2008, and he was awarded with a contract in February 2014. And now it seems that Wenger hopes that the youngster will enjoy regular first team football with the Tigers, to subsequently help him develop and mature as a professional footballer.
The England U20 international could be Hull’s third signing this summer after Ryan Taylor and Sam Clucas, with Steve Bruce looking to find a replacement for some of the big names that have bid farewell the KC Stadium since relegation. The last week ahead of the new campaign could now prove the busiest for the club this summer.
