The 22-year-old left back is currently a free agent after being released at the end of last season by Spanish side Cordoba and has been on trial at the City Ground the last week, with a medical set to take place in the next 24 hours to complete the deal.

Pinillos began his career with Racing Santander and played for the club’s B team appearing 52 times in 3 seasons for the them.

He then moved onto Ourense where he played 21 times and earned some plaudits for his performances at his age which resulted in Spanish side Cordoba to scoop him up to play him in their B team initially, before he played in the first team last campaign in La Liga appearing 30 times as the club were relegated.

Nottingham Forest have been looking to strengthen their squad and manager Dougie Freedman has been trying to make his own mark on the club, with his first full season in charge due to begin in the next couple of weeks and Pinillos would be a good signing, who would provide some competition in the left back spot with Daniel Fox and give Freedman more options in his squad as they prepare for the long hard season ahead.

Forest have the credentials to gain promotion, but it is all about getting the consistency in the side and spreading out the goals through the team, something which they weren’t able to do last season. If they can get the consistency and not rely on Britt Assombalonga’s goals as much, they have a more than capable squad to challenge for promotion next season.

Forest fans, Do you think this is a useful signing? Could he possibly be your new first choice left back? Can you make the playoffs this season? Are you happy with the current squad, or are more signings needed? Let us know your thoughts and comments below!
