Leeds United are on the verge of completing a transfer for Watford striker Fernando Forestieri, after a fee has been agreed between the two clubs, the Mirror reported.

Forestieri looks set for a switch to Elland Road

The Yorkshire club will pay £3 million to take the Italian to the Elland Road, with the hope to agree personal terms in the next few days.

The former Udinese player will add to the Whites’ attacking options as he is capable to play in several positions.

The deal has made possible after Leeds owner Massimo Cellino interfered to negotiate directly with Watford’s Italian owners, after previously stating that the valuation was higher than what the Whites can afford.

Leeds manager Uwe Rosler confirmed that the deal is all but done, and suggested that the 25-year-old is the right player to lead the team’s frontline.

‘’I can’t tell you what has been agreed with Watford in terms of the price’’, Rosler said. ‘’I don’t know how much it is, but I can tell you Mr Cellino has used his personal money to buy off the debt and from this season on this club can move on’’.

"So far, the signings we have made have shown that. Stuart Dallas, Chris Wood, Lee Erwin, they’re all in the same bracket. Forestieri is 25 and fits the bill”.

Five goals in 26 games helped secure promotion for the Hertfordshire outfit last season, but he is seemingly not in the first-team plans at Vicarage Road this season.

Forestieri has fallen out of favour with Hornets boss Quique Flores at the newly-promoted club and is yet to feature in a game this season - his debut, however, could come against Derby County this Saturday should Leeds United's third signing be completed this week.
