West Brom are poised to sign Semi Ajayi from Rotherham, much to the delight of their fans.

Matt Wilson of the Express & Star has reported that a £1.5m fee has been agreed, and the defender is set to undergo a medical and agree personal terms.

Fans have reacted with excitement to the deal, with many impressed by his performances last season, as well as the change in transfer strategy the club is taking on by signing stand-out players from smaller teams.

Some fans also think he could prove to be a bargain at £1.5m. He is only 25 so has plenty of potential to develop further, although his performances last season already show he is a capable Championship defender.

Slaven Bilic has been need of a defender since Craig Dawson departed for Watford. Ajayi played in every Championship game for The Millers last season and even contributed seven goals, which suggests he could adequately replace that part of Dawson's game too.

With Dawson leaving for £5.5m The Baggies still have funds to strengthen elsewhere after this deal, which is another reason why it has been met with positivity.

Here are some of the reactions from happy Baggies fans on Twitter.
