It's been a season to forget for Bolton Wanderers this season, with the off-the-field options certainly playing their part in the club's relegation into League One.

With the financial issues still going on with the Trotters, supporters will be expectant of a number of departures over the summer as they prepare for life in the third tier of English football.

Defender, Mark Beevers was one of the first players to head for the exit door as he signed for Peterborough United.

Former Bolton team-mate, David Wheater issued a heartwarming parting message to Beevers on

Both Wheater and Beevers were impressive for the Trotters in their time with the club, and it remains to be seen as to how much longer Wheater will remain at the club.

Wheater made 33 appearances in total for Phil Parkinson's side this season, whereas Beevers made 32 himself.

He could be tempted by a move elsewhere, and would certainly be a good enough option for the majority of the teams in League One ahead of next season.

It's going to be a summer of change at Bolton, and it will be interesting to see how their season pans out with wholesale changes likely to happen before life in League One gets underway in August.

The Verdict:

You have to feel as though this will be the first of many departures.

I really do feel sorry for Bolton supporters, as this is a horrible situation to be in, and they need to somehow pick themselves up from such a shocking season.

I think it could be a while before we see them back in the Championship.
