Speaking to the Yorkshire Post, David Wagner has praised Huddersfield Town’s Aaron Mooy, after the Australian was named in the PFA Championship Team of the Year earlier this week.

Mooy has received further accolades for a fantastic campaign in West Yorkshire, which has seen the midfielder play a crucial role in Huddersfield’s promotion push in the Sky Bet Championship.

The 26-year old has made 44 appearances across all competitions, adding four goals and six assists this season, but is Huddersfield’s only representative in the PFA team despite their impressive year.

Wagner, who has masterminded Huddersfield’s rise in the Championship, spoke highly of Mooy after his most recent achievement, he said: “First of all, Aaron must be proud. The whole team can be proud that he is part of our team.

“He totally deserved it, as he is one of the most consistent players. If Aaron plays well, usually the team plays well. If he is very good, the team is very good. He is a player who influences our game a lot.

“The miles he travelled during the international break makes how consistently he performs even more impressive.“

There are just four fixtures of the Championship season remaining and the Terriers are looking to confirm their place in the Play-Offs in the coming weeks.

Wagner’s side are currently fourth in the table, with a five-point lead over seventh-placed Leeds United.

However, Town still have an outside chance of finishing in the automatic promotion places, and trail Newcastle United by seven-points.

Town will look to continue their fine season this weekend, when they face Play-Off rivals Fulham at the John Smith’s Stadium.
