Speaking to the Yorkshire Post, David Wagner has admitted he has been taking advice from Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp, ahead of Huddersfield Town’s play-off semi-final with Sheffield Wednesday.

Wagner and Klopp worked together during the early stage of the managerial careers, where they formed a formidable duo at Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga.

Huddersfield face Wednesday twice in the next week for a chance to reach the play-off final on May 29th, and Wagner admitted he has been picking Klopp’s brain on his experience of playing over two-legs, he said: “We spoke earlier by phone and, of course, he wished us all the best for the play-offs.

“I have spoken with him about the experience he has in two legged games from the Champions League and the Europa League. The details will be what makes the difference in this tie.”

Huddersfield welcome Wednesday to the John Smith’s Stadium on Sunday, and then travel to South-Yorkshire for the return on Wednesday evening.

Wagner’s side have surprised many this season, keeping pace with the division’s elite against all odds and finishing fifth in the Sky Bet Championship.

However, Town are without a victory in their last two league fixtures, and have won just once in their last five outings, which is worrying form heading into the play-offs.
