Speaking to West Yorkshire Sport, David Wagner has described this weekend’s Sky Bet Championship play-off final as a “once in a lifetime chance” for his players to reach the Premier League.

Huddersfield face Reading at Wembley on Monday in the play-off final, where the winners will find themselves competing in the Premier League during the 2017/18 campaign.

Having been early season favourites for relegation, Wagner’s side have continued to defy odds this season by competing with the elite in the Championship, resulting in a Wembley final, which Wagner has highlighted the significance of, he said: “This is a once in a lifetime chance for our players.

“Usually Huddersfield Town players will not get the offer of the Premier League. Usually a Huddersfield Town player has no chance to be in the Premier League, and now they have a chance, a real chance.”

Town finished the regular season in fifth, four-points behind Reading, who finished third in the Championship.

From their two meetings this season, the home side has prevailed on both occasions, Reading recording a 1-0 victory at the Madejski Stadium and Huddersfield a 1-0 triumph in the reverse fixture.
