David Stockdale has taken to Twitter to share a message with Sheffield Wednesday's fans after completing a move to Hillsborough.
As confirmed by the club's official website, the goalkeeper will link up with his new team-mates on July 1st after his current contract at Wycombe Wanderers reaches a crescendo.
The length of Stockdale's deal with Wednesday has not been disclosed by the club.
During his time at Wycombe, Stockdale made 73 appearances for the League One outfit in all competitions.
The keeper helped the Chairboys reach the play-offs during the previous term by claiming 18 clean-sheets in the regular season.
Wycombe went on to suffer a 2-0 defeat in the final of this aforementioned competition to Sunderland.
Stockdale becomes the second player to seal a move to Wednesday this week as Ben Heneghan joined the club on a free transfer yesterday.
The 36-year-old will be looking to showcase his talent to Owls manager Darren Moore ahead of the 2022/23 campaign.
Having missed out on securing an immediate return to the Championship last season, Wednesday will be determined to launch another push for promotion later this year.
After the Owls announced Stockdale's arrival, the keeper opted to take to Twitter to share a message with the club's supporters.
Stockdale posted: "Can't wait to get started."
The Verdict
No longer able to call upon the services of Bailey Peacock-Farrell who returned to Burnley following the expiry of his loan spell last month, the Owls will be hoping that Stockdale will be able to fill the void left by the Northern Ireland international.
This could potentially turn out to be a very shrewd bit of business by Wednesday as Stockdale did illustrate last season that he is more than capable of delivering the goods in the third-tier.
During the 49 league games that he participated in, the former Birmingham City man made three saves per game and only produced one error that directly led to a goal (as per Sofa Score).
Having averaged a respectable WhoScored match rating of 6.82 in the third-tier, Stockdale will be confident in his ability to become Wednesday's first-choice keeper later this year.
