Brentford goalkeeper David Raya has shared his personal thoughts on last night's game after they were beaten by Luton Town at Kenilworth Road.

The previous clash between the two sides had finished in a 7-0 thrashing of Graeme Jones' side at Griffin Park but they were out for revenge on Tuesday and got it, in the form of a 2-1 win.

With Brentford pushing for promotion to the Premier League, it is a match that they will have been eager to win, espeically having failed to pick up three points in their last three league matches.

But Raya was the first to admit his disappointment at the display, writing on Instagram on Wednesday afternoon: "Things didn’t go our way last night. Time to put it right on Saturday. We never give up. Fans were class as always🐝 #bees".

QUIZ: How much do you know about Brentford’s January signings?

Shandon Baptiste gifted the hosts the lead inside the first ten minutes, diverting a Luton free-kick past Raya and into his own net.

Martin Cranie gave the Hatters a cushion on the stroke of half-time as well, volleying home spectacularly after a Luke Berry free-kick was not properly cleared.

Ollie Watkins pulled one back in the second half but it was not enough to spark a recovery, leaving Thomas Frank's side in fifth place and potentially nine points off second (if Leeds United win tonight).

The verdict

This was a really poor result for Brentford.

Yes, Kenilworth Road is not the easiest place to go but a team gunning for promotion has to be beating the teams battling relegation.

With no wins to their name in recent weeks they are in real danger of hitting a wobble and Frank needs to address that as soon as possible.
