Queens Park Rangers head into their home clash with Bristol City this evening looking to respond positively to their defeat this past weekend.

QPR were demolished 7-1 against West Bromwich Albion on Saturday in what was an embarrassing result for Steve McClaren’s men.

The Hoops were dismantled at the hands of the Baggies and sit bottom of the division having lost all three of their games, conceding ten in the process - only managing to score twice.

Like the London club, Bristol City are also looking for their first win of the new campaign having recorded two draws and a defeat in their first three games of the season.

Lee Johnson’s side have managed two draws against Nottingham Forest and Bolton Wanderers respectively, before slumping to a home defeat at the hands of Middlesbrough last Saturday.

With both sides looking for their first three-point haul of the new season, Sky Sports pundit David Prutton is predicting that the two teams will have to wait a little longer.

Prutton is forecasting a goalless draw at Loftus Road and told Sky Sport’s website: “It's safe to say the coach trip home from the Hawthorns would've been very quiet after QPR's 7-1 thrashing by West Brom on Saturday.

“That said, Bristol City have had players leave left, right and centre so I think it could be a difficult away trip for them.

“Steve McClaren needs to see a reaction from his Rangers squad, so I'll go for a stalemate in this one.”

The Verdict

This midweek fixture comes at the perfect time for Queens Park Rangers to put right the wrong of last weekend’s poor performance.

A quick turnaround allows Steve McClaren’s men to focus on a new challenge rather than dwelling on their hammering at the Hawthorns.

Bristol City are looking for their first win of the new season, and this is a dangerous task against a wounded animal in QPR.

A draw would stop the rot of three successive defeats for Rangers, but it’s hard to see a victory coming.

Bristol City will get their first win of the new season, and QPR will be left licking their wounds after a fourth successive defeat.

The Robins to triumph 2-0 and take their season total to five points.
