Blackpool will be looking to secure a positive result in front of their supporters tomorrow when they host Reading in the Championship at Bloomfield Road.

The Seasiders decided to appoint Michael Appleton as their head coach following Neil Critchley's decision to link up with Steven Gerrard at Aston Villa.

Appleton's previous spell in charge of the club was relatively short as he resigned in order to take over the vacancy at Blackburn Rovers in 2013.

Ahead of the new term, the 46-year-old has managed to bolster his squad by securing the services of some fresh faces in the transfer window.

Dominic Thompson, Rhys Williams, Lewis Fiorini and Theo Corbeanu are all set to feature for Blackpool next season after sealing moves to the club.

Reading have also been busy in terms of their transfer activity.

Manager Paul Ince has signed Shane Long, Sam Hutchinson, Dean Bouzanis and Tom Ince on permanent deals whilst Jeff Hendrick, Joe Lumley and Tyrese Fornah have joined the Royals on loan.

With both sides keen to push on in the second-tier during the upcoming campaign, it will be interesting to see how Saturday's game will pan out.

Ahead of this meeting, David Prutton has predicted in his latest Sky Sports column that the game will end in a 1-1 draw.

The Verdict

Blackpool will unquestionably be keen to defy Prutton's prediction by defeating the Royals this weekend.

In order to have the best chance of securing victory in this particular fixture, the Seasiders will need Keshi Anderson and Josh Bowler to be firing on all cylinders.

Bowler provided 10 direct goal contributions in the Championship last season and has been the subject of a great deal of transfer speculation this summer.

Anderson meanwhile managed to score four goals and chip in with five assists at this level for Blackpool as they finished 16th in the league standings.

As for Reading, they will be hoping that their current crop of players will step up to the mark against the Seasiders following the departure of John Swift who was a key figure for the club in the previous campaign.
