David Prutton has delivered his prediction for Sunderland's weekend clash with Wycombe Wanderers in his latest round of predictions for Sky Sports.

A win, along with results going their way, could see the Black Cats move into the League One play-offs, but they face a tough task as they welcome top of the table Wycombe to the Stadium of Light.

Sunderland are unbeaten in their last five league games but have only won one out of their last five on home soil.

Despite remaining top of the table, Wycombe are without a win in their last four games, with the Chairboys picking up just one point from a possible 12.

This poor form, coupled with an in-form Rotherham United, has seen Gareth Ainsworth's men's lead at the top of the league cut to just three points.

Despite Wanderers' recent slide, the former Southampton midfielder Prutton has tipped Ainsworth's side to come away with all three points with a 2-0 victory at the Stadium of Light.

On the two sides, Prutton said: "It's five unbeaten now for Sunderland in League One, although they still need to convert more draws into wins if Phil Parkinson is going to really get the home fans on his side at the Stadium of Light.

"Wycombe are still top, which is remarkable considering they had lost three in a row before drawing with Ipswich on New Year's Day. It would be a shame if they slipped away in the second half of the season, and I think they could get back to winning ways here," added the former player.

The Verdict

I am struggling to see how Sunderland overcome Wanderers at the weekend and secure all three points given their home form.

Not turning draws into wins have been the Black Cats' downfall ever since falling into League One and I can't see them managing anything better than a point here.

Wycombe addressed their slide with a 0-0 draw to Ipswich last time out and Gareth Ainsworth will be keen to see is side pick up a much needed win.

I can't see the win being as comfortable as Prutton does, but I can see the Chairboys leaving Wearside with a narrow victory.
