David Prutton has backed Huddersfield Town to secure a narrow victory over Wigan Athletic.

The Terriers ended a run of six games without a win by securing a 1-0 victory over Charlton Athletic midweek.

The hope for Danny Cowley will be to make it back-to-back victories when they travel to the DW Stadium this weekend.

As for the Latics, Paul Cook's side will be boosted by a deserved point against high-flying West Brom on Wednesday night, but according to David Prutton, Saturday's game is likely to go Huddersfield's way.

Writing for Sky Sports, Prutton said: "Wigan know how to shoot themselves in the foot, they really do.

"They should have beaten West Brom on Wednesday but somehow conspired to give the Baggies an indirect free-kick in the box, which Charlie Austin dispatched to earn them a draw. Throwing away leads has plagued them all season.

"Huddersfield claimed a huge late win at Charlton in midweek to just lift themselves away from the drop zone and end a poor run.

"This is a massive game near the bottom and it could go either way, but I'll back the Terriers to have the resolve to nick it."

David Prutton's prediction: Wigan Athletic 0 - 1 Huddersfield Town

The verdict

Wigan Athletic will be pleased with the point that they picked up against West Brom midweek, and they'll be confident of getting a result this weekend.

As for Huddersfield things are starting to click into place under Danny Cowley and they'll be hoping to follow up their win over Charlton when they go to the DW Stadium.

It's likely to be a close contest which could go either way.
