David Prutton has stated that Portsmouth will bounce back from their defeat last weekend and beat Ipswich at Fratton Park on Saturday.

Pompey had been on a great run of form up until last weekend's match when they threw away a 1-0 lead to go on and lose 4-1 at Accrington Stanley. It was a surprise result, and one that has left Kenny Jackett in a reflective mood ahead of the busy Christmas period.

Ipswich, on the other hand, have been poor of late and are now four games without a victory as they look for an all important three points to stop the rot from continuing. It would certainly be a morale boosting win if they could claim it on Saturday at Fratton Park.

Prutton has expressed that he thinks Portsmouth will come out on top, by a scoreline of 2-1.

Speaking in his Sky Sports column, Prutton said: "What on earth happened to Portsmouth last week? They had been on a good run of form and were closing in on the top six in League One, but then somehow threw away a winning position to be thumped at Accrington.

"It is four without a win now for Ipswich, who have lost a huge amount of ground on leaders Wycombe and have allowed the teams below them to close the gap. That gap could close further after they lose at Fratton Park."

The Verdict

Portsmouth have had a really quite interesting first-half of the campaign. They've had performances where they've been brilliant, and others where they've been utterly dreadful. At the start of the season fans wanted Jackett to leave so it'll be interesting to see what happens with another bad run.

Ipswich are a really inconsistent side, and despite their good start to the season, they've not been able to look like a side that should be playing in a higher division.

It should be a tightly contested game, and in terms of a prediction, it wouldn't be a surprise to see the points shared.
