David Prutton believes Derby County will pick up a point from their game against Reading at Pride Park tonight.
Wayne Rooney’s side are bottom of the Championship after the club were hit with a 12-point deduction following entering administration. Another deduction is still expected, so it really would take a miracle for the Rams to remain in the second tier.
Despite that, the team have shown a real spirit in recent weeks, and they have picked up results, although they did fall to a tough defeat against Sheffield United last time out.
But, Prutton has backed them to get a draw against the Royals, as he went for a 1-1 in his regular Sky Sports column.
Veljko Paunovic’s men have improved considerably after a disappointing start, with the Royals playing some stylish football in recent weeks, with the talented John Swift central to that.
So, they will head to the East Midlands with confidence, as they search for what would be a fourth consecutive victory, which would push the Berkshire outfit closer to the play-off places.
The ultimate 2021 Derby County quiz – Can you get 24/24 correct?
Reading go into this game with real momentum and belief, but it’s still going to be a very tough game for them against a Derby side that have shown real togetherness under Rooney in these difficult circumstances.
Most will agree with Prutton that it’s likely to be a relatively low-scoring game and it wouldn’t be a surprise if it was a draw.
For Derby, the incentive is to get above zero points, whilst the Royals will want to push further up the table after their promising run.
