Sky Sports pundit David Prutton issued his prediction on Blackburn Rovers trip to Hillsborough to face Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.

Garry Monk's side will likely be flying high on confidence after their 2-0 win against Yorkshire rivals Leeds United at Elland Road.

That result ended a three-game winless run in the Championship and has kept the Owls in the top six.

They welcome a Blackburn side in a torrid run, having not won once since the 14th of December.

Tony Mowbray's side drew 1-1 with Lancashire rivals Preston North End last weekend and despite their shaky form during the festive period, are still within five points of the top six.

A win against Wednesday tomorrow would but them right back into contention for the play-off places and they may feel confident of doing that against a side missing their biggest weapon–top scorer Steven Fletcher.

Writing for Sky Sports, Prutton has indicated that Blackburn's winless run will continue and that the Owls will win 2-0 on Saturday.

That result could see Monk's side climb as high as fourth in the table if results elsewhere go their way.

The Verdict

They picked up a fantastic result against Leeds last weekend but I do worry for Wednesday with Fletcher missing.

In his absence, they have often looked toothless this season but it is something they need to be able to deal with as the Scotsman isn't due to return for a little while.

However, Blackburn are without their key attacking man as well, with Bradley Dack set to miss a long period, and you'd imagine the hosts will have too much quality for them.
