Coventry City will be looking to get back to winning ways this weekend when they face Ipswich Town at St Andrew's in League One.

The Sky Blues suffered a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Milton Keynes Dons in the second round of the EFL Trophy on Tuesday as manager Mark Robins' decision to make a number of changes to his starting eleven ultimately backfired.

Given that Coventry played Ipswich last Sunday in the FA Cup, they will already have an inkling about what it will take to beat Paul Lambert's side tomorrow.

A stoppage-time equaliser from Callum O'Hare for the Sky Blues ensured that the aforementioned second round clash will have to be resolved in a replay which is scheduled to take place on December 10th.

Having picked up 23 points from a possible 30 on offer in their home clashes this season, Coventry will have confidence in their ability to secure a positive result against Ipswich.

However, given that the Tractor Boys are currently second in the League One standings, the Sky Blues cannot afford to underestimate their opponents on Saturday.

Speaking to Sky Sports ahead of the clash, pundit David Prutton has predicted that Ipswich will beat Coventry 2-1.

The 38-year-old said: "Coventry are ticking along under Mark Robins.

"They have probably drawn a few too many games this season, but they don't lose a lot either and are still within touching distance of the top two.

"Ipswich haven't played an awful lot of league games in the last month or so, but are still second with games in hand on all the sides around them.

"This is a tough game to call, but I'll back the away side to nick it."

The Verdict

Whilst Ipswich will unquestionably pose a considerable threat to Coventry this weekend, there is no reason why Robins' side cannot secure a confidence-boosting victory.

Providing that the likes of Liam Walsh, Jordan Shipley and Marko Marosi are all on top-form at St Andrew's, the Sky Blues may be able to send out a real signal of intent to the rest of League One tomorrow.

If Coventry do indeed seal all three points, they could potentially use the momentum gained from this result to push on over the festive period.
