Wigan Athletic travel to the City Ground to take on Nottingham Forest tomorrow afternoon for matchday 29 in the Championship.

Martin O’Neill will be looking to get off the mark as he looks to earn his first points as the Reds’ new boss in his second game in charge.

Paul Cook, meanwhile, will be hoping to bounce back after last weekend’s defeat to Sheffield Wednesday.

Forest are 12th in the table, but only seven points off the top six and a win could see them cut the gap to Derby, who occupy the final play-off place.

Wigan, however, sit perilously close to the Championship drop zone, two places and five points ahead of the relegation places.

The Latics have one win in their last six, with Forest no better than their opponents.

Ahead of the clash, Sky Sports enlisted the help of pundit David Prutton to give his thoughts on the outcome of this intriguing Championship fixture.

The EFL presenter said: “It wasn't a good start for Martin O'Neill last week, as his side fell to a home defeat against Bristol City.

“It's not the return to the City Ground he would have been hoping for, to say the least!

“He has another chance to get a win at home against Wigan, who are dreadful on the road.

“They have picked up just five points away all season, and I can't imagine they will add to it on Saturday, 1-0.”

The Verdict

Both sides are terribly out of form, and this doesn’t look to be a classic between the two teams at the City Ground.

David Prutton has gone for a narrow home win, but I think that is just in hope more than anticipation for O’Neill to get off the mark.

This will be a draw, be it goalless or a score draw. I am going for the points to be shared come full-time between Nottingham Forest and Wigan Athletic.
