David Prutton has predicted more misery for Sunderland this weekend.

The Black Cats welcome Blackpool to the Stadium Of Light in the hope of putting an end to their poor form.

Phil Parkinson's side currently sit in 11th place in the League One table - five points off the top six and a staggering 10 off their original target of securing automatic promotion.

Blackpool will be confident of getting a result given their good recent form, and David Prutton is backing the Seasiders to get a result.

Writing for Sky Sports, Prutton said: "It seems like Sunderland have taken a step backwards under Phil Parkinson, who just hasn't got them going since replacing Jack Ross.

"They are slipping away from the top six right now, let alone the top two.

"Blackpool are firmly embedded in the play-offs and are under a great run of form. Simon Grayson would love to get one over his former club and I think he'll do just that."

David Prutton's prediction: Sunderland 0 - 2 Blackpool

The verdict

It's a bad time for Sunderland at the moment.

Matters on and off the pitch have led to an incredibly negative atmosphere around the Stadium Of Light and it's showing little sign of easing.

Blackpool are enjoying a decent season and it wouldn't be a surprise to see them pull off a good result on Wearside.
