Stoke City will be looking to secure their first league victory of the season on Saturday when they host Bristol City at the bet365 Stadium.

The Potters endured a miserable August under manager Nathan Jones which resulted in them plummeting to the bottom of the second-tier standings.

After losing their opening day fixture against Queens Park Rangers, Stoke then suffered defeat at the hands of Charlton Athletic at The Valley.

Although they managed to delivered a spirited performance in their 2-2 draw with Derby County, the Potters have since lost three games on the trot in the Championship.

Desperately in need of a positive result, Jones will be hoping that his side can deliver a performance to be proud of at the weekend.

However, with Bristol City currently on an unbeaten of five games in the Championship, it may turn out to be a long afternoon for Stoke.

Speaking to Sky Sports ahead of the upcoming clash, pundit David Prutton has predicted that the Robins will secure a 1-0 victory tomorrow.

The 38-year-old said: "This is a big, big game for Nathan Jones.

"He has had two weeks of the international break to sort Stoke out, and the home fans will be expecting a big performance.

"Bristol City were in decent form themselves before the international break but are lacking Benik Afobe for this one - as he cannot play against his parent club.

"I reckon this one will be low scoring and I fancy Lee Johnson's side to edge it."

The Verdict

When you consider just how poor Stoke have been in recent weeks, they can ill-afford to suffer yet another defeat in the Championship.

Yet with the Robins currently firing on all cylinders under Johnson, the Potters will have to be on top-form if they are to emerge victorious at the weekend.

Such is the importance of this clash, it would not be at all surprising if Jones is given his marching orders if Stoke slip-up in-front of their own supporters.
